All firearms, air weapons, ammunition and related items offered for sale are subject to the provisions of the Firearms Act 1968 and all subsequent amendments, together with all other applicable UK legislation.
It is the sole responsibility of the purchaser to ensure that they comply with all current laws prior to bidding, purchase, transfer or possession of any lot. This includes holding the appropriate and valid Firearm Certificate (FAC), Shotgun Certificate (SGC), Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD) authority, or any other required licence or authority.
Transfer of all controlled firearms will only be made to appropriately licensed individuals or through a Registered Firearms Dealer in accordance with UK law.
Deactivated Firearms
Lots described as deactivated firearms must comply with current Home Office specifications. Items deactivated to earlier standards (pre-2016) may require re-certification by a UK Proof House prior to lawful transfer or possession. The auctioneer makes no warranty as to the compliance of any deactivated firearm.
Antique & Obsolete Calibre Firearms
Firearms sold as antiques or of obsolete calibre are offered on the basis that they are acquired solely as curiosities or ornaments under Section 58(2) of the Firearms Act 1968. If such items are possessed with ammunition or with intent to fire, they may require certification and fall within Section 1 of the Act.
Black Powder / Muzzle-Loading Firearms
Black powder firearms may be possessed without certification only when held as curiosities or ornaments. If intended for use, or if possessed with ammunition or components (including black powder, percussion caps or projectiles), they are classified as Section 1 firearms and require a valid Firearm Certificate.
Air Weapons (England & Wales)
Air rifles and air pistols do not require a certificate provided they fall within legal power limits (12 ft/lbs for rifles, 6 ft/lbs for pistols). Purchasers must be 18 years or over. It is an offence to carry an air weapon in a public place without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
Air Weapons (Scotland)
Under the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015, all air weapons require an Air Weapon Certificate (AWC) or other appropriate authority.
Air Weapons (Northern Ireland)
All air weapons are classified as firearms and require a Firearm Certificate.
